VUTRAX 12.0 - Editing Schematic VALUE fields

The problem

The Value field in schematic symbols is actually a simple Script point.

If you use the proper Part Value from (Symbol > Attributes) (typed command VALUE ...) then both the text label and the value embedded in the part name of the device data point are updated in synchrony.

However, if you update the visible value field as a normal piece of text, the component value and the displayed text no longer match and the standard means of updating no longer works because the system does not recognise the Script point as representing the component value.

Avoiding the Problem:

Always use Part Value ...' or 'Edit Value ...' from the Menus or Button Bar when initially setting or updating the values of schematic components.

Workaround if you make the mistake:

If the displayed value cannot be located for update, or by NOTE, Esc key etc., the part value probably mismatches the value assigned in the device name. Proceed as follows

  1. Use Part Value from (Symbol > Attributes) (typed command VALUE ...) to apply a Part Value the same as the displayed value. Ignore the error message that tells you that the matching value point could not be located. The values are now in step.

  2. Use Part Value from (Symbol > Attributes) (typed command VALUE ...) again, this time to assign the value you want. This should work normally.
